Your Faith Walk With God Maintenance Plan
Step No. 3: Speaking and thinking good things
I said in Lesson 1 when attending church not to criticize believers, but remain centered upon Jesus. This will give us the understanding, compassion and mercy we need to have for others through Jesus. We should see Christ in the believers around us and think on virtuous things. We should recognize our place in Christ as kings and priests. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us that we are chosen as a royal priesthood, a chosen nation. Revelation 5:10, says that we are made unto our God as kings and priests and we are to reign on the earth.
Follow the guidance below to help you achieve the right attitude toward others. The way we understand and treat people actually affects our health. If we follow God’s direction, we can maintain good health or receive healing. Healing is not just a matter of prayer and faith. We have our part to play in receiving it. Thank God He will wait upon us if we have a sincere heart to follow His Word, but have difficulty at first utilizing it for God’s purpose and glory.
Philippians 4:8-9, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”
Eliminate filthy and corrupt communications with good manners. Ephesians 4:22, “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.” The things we say and think are going to effect the way we and others around us believe and in order for the believer to nurture their faith, a profession or confession of faith must be practiced.
Hebrews 10:23, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” The things we say are the things we hear and the things we hear fortify the seeds within us. A clear, scriptural key to maintaining a spirit-filled, faith-activated experience is to speak to God, ourselves and others in spiritual songs, Biblical truth, things that are good, pure and lovely.
Ephesians 5:19, “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” We must also learn to acknowledge with our thoughts all of these things.
2 Corinthians 10:5, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ,” and Psalms 1:2, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”
Step No. 4: Sharing your faith
Sharing your faith will stimulate your spiritual experience beyond any of the other steps mentioned in this lesson to maintain your faith walk with God. It’s your opportunity to put your faith into action! All of the guidelines set forth in this maintenance plan will bring vitality, strength, charisma and stability to your life, but witnessing will produce a great and unique experience to your life. The Word of God says that there is joy in the presence of God’s holy angels when one sinner comes to repentance (Luke 15:10).
Mark 16:15, “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” He said to go out into the highways and by-ways and compel them to come in. Luke 14:23, “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
Witnessing or sharing your faith should be joyful. The Spirit of the Lord will give you the words to say even though, in your logical mind, you do not think that you would know what to say. Remember, the scriptures say, the person that wins souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”
If you’re ill and need to concentrate on your healing, move with God as you are guided. You can intercede for others without having to leave your home with a heart filled with love. See yourself healed and sharing the Word with others face to face. Believe those things which be not as though they were and you will bring them to life!
