Knowing The Three Phases Of God’s Will Draws Us Nearer To Him

Phase I: Accept God’s Will For Salvation |  Phase II: God’s General Will Through The Word |  Phase III: Live God’s Purpose For Your Life

Three Phases Of God’s Will – Phase I:  Salvation Scripture

Romans 10:10    “For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

Luke 15:10  “There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”

Phase I: Salvation

Jesus Christ is the path to God’s plan for salvation for all of mankind. There is only one way to receive our salvation and that is to believe in our hearts by faith that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and confess that fact.

The Bible specifically says that there is only one God, one faith, one baptism, and one way to God, which is through His Son Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death on the cross. Jesus says that He, and only He, is the way, the truth, and the life leading to God the Father and that no one comes to the Father except through Him! This is made especially clear in the book of St. John.

It is God’s will that all of mankind be saved. When a
sinner repents and is saved, the angels rejoice!

According to John 3:16, God loved the world so much that He sacrificed His only Son so that anyone can accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and receive eternal life. God would never make such a sacrifice if it wasn’t His will and the most important gift He could give. I will cover Salvation more thoroughly in my discussion on the subject in another text.

In conclusion of Phase I it is God’s will for you to receive your salvation through Jesus Christ. When you enter into the Kingdom through Jesus Christ, you are fulfilling the first part of God’s will for your life.

Note that the moment you become saved there is no physical change that take place.  One may receive healing simultaneous to the experience if that is what they are seeking, but in general you will look the same, act the same, feel the same and have the same life.  Nothing will change for you until you make the decision to include “Phase II” of the Three Phases Of God’s Will in your daily life.

Three Phases Of God’s Will – Phase II: Obedience Of The Word

John 1:1-14 (NIV) The word Became Flesh

1.In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

6There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

9The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Phase No. II: God’s General Will

This next phase of the Three Phases of God’s Will only takes a moment to implement into your life.  All you have to do is make a decision the way you did to receive salvation by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and making a commitment to follow Him the rest of your life.

However in Phase II you must make a commitment to follow the Word of God and allow it to transform your thinking actions, emotions and heart. This all begins with one decision that only you can make. Without accomplishing this phase, you cannot effectively move onto Phase III.   You will only be going through the motions if you do and consequently be living by your will instead of God’s.

Committing to follow Jesus Christ and make Him Lord of your life means that you will put Him at the center of all that you do.  While this might sound confusing or impossible, it’s really quite simple.  The first chapter of John clearly defines how you can walk with Christ and keep Him at the center of your life.

Verse 1 of John 1 describes the Word as being God from the beginning.  God and the Word are one.  Verse 2 clarifies the Word as an entity by saying “He” was with God in the Beginning.  The Words of the Bible are God’s life.  They are Spirit, therefore they have life.  As we input them into our hearts, we are putting God’s Words or His life within our hearts.

Verses 4-13 talks about “the Light” which is Jesus Christ.  It is clear by reading through these scriptures that Jesus is “the Light.” Then in verse 14, Jesus is described as being the Word who became flesh.  Jesus as the Son of God is also the Word.  As we live the Word we are living the life of Jesus Christ

By training yourself to live the Word you will live a victorious life.  Your faith and trust in God through His Word will give you healing, safety and protection, financial growth, knowledge, wisdom, peace, joy and the ability to live a successful life in all that you do.  If this is the life you want, then it’s time to make a commitment to living “Phase II of God’s will” from the Three Phases of God’s Will.

Three Phases Of God’s Will – Phase III: God’s Purpose For Your Life

Matthew 10:39 (NIV) 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.

Phase III: God’s Purpose For Your Life

God has a special plan for each Christian. At salvation, we became a new creation in Christ and from that point we are responsible to grow in God’s Word, receive and live God’s plan for our lives and share the Gospel with the lost.

Most Christians don’t learn how to live the special call God has on their lives let alone how to discover it.  I decided that since living God’s purpose is so vital for all Christians, I would create a site that centers around the subject in order to help them take their rightful places in the Body of Christ. In this lesson, I will give you a brief idea of what Phase III of God’s will for you life means to you.

Before I begin, I would like to pose this questions that Kenneth Hagin (now diseased), who was a great man of Christian faith and pastor/founder of the Rhema Bible Church in Oklahoma asked on the cover of His book, Plans Purposes and Pursuits:

“What are you going to say when you stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and He asks you, ‘did you follow my plans for your life or your own?'”

Please ponder that question and then continue reading to complete The Three Phases Of God’s Will.  At the end of this lesson, ask yourself which way you choose to go.  God’s way or your own?

Moving Forward With God Into Phase III

When you were saved, you verbally made the commitment from your heart to follow Christ by making Him your Lord and Savior. Many Christians don’t take this commitment enough to heart to see any real change in their lives. I know I didn’t. I was 9 years old when I received my salvation. That’s all that mattered to me because I didn’t know there was more. After that, I lived my life like everyone else.

I continued with with the same problems, misery and sadness that prevailed over my childhood and as an adult. My Bible remained unused, collecting dust on my nightstand for years.  When I left my parent’s home, I dusted off my Bible and let it sit collecting dust all over again for a few more years.

I remained in Phase I of God’s will for many years into becoming an adult until I was in my late twenties.  By then my problems were surmounting on a gigantic level because I never dealt with them and remained in the lives of the very people who were causing them–my family and relatives.  Problems don’t go away until we deal with them. As you have learned, God’s Word guides us in Phase II to deal with our problems by acting upon what God says to experience victory.

By the time I was thirty-one years old I remained on the periphery of Phase II, as I searched for more understanding and clarification of the Word.  Soon I discovered a means of Bible study that helped me overcome my problems one by one.  I organized each one, using faith and prayer for victory.  It was a great time and to this day I am still very thankful for the truth of God’s Word bringing peace and joy to my life. The most important factor in my spiritual growth is that I can be a blessing to God through Phase III of God’s will for my life and you can do the same.

Sadly most Christians remain in Phase I, never experiencing the blessings of living The Three Phases of God’s Will for a large part of their lives or they never go any farther in their spiritual growth. They are saved, but they continue to live according to the world. They react the way the world reacts to problems, allowing their past to dictate how they live in the present and look forward to the future.

However, with God we can achieve a whole new perspective that gives us victory through Jesus Christ by allowing God’s Word to transform our lives.

You can begin right now to live the special and unique purpose God has waiting for you by just making the choice to look to God for the rest of your life. Then you make the commitment by turning your life over to God.  I promise that as you lose your life through Jesus Christ, you will find it in the most amazing way.  It will actually free you to live the dreams that God has planted within your heart.

However, remember that before you begin to seek God’s will for your life to live the specific purpose He has for you alone, you must have entered Phase I of God’s will and Phase II.  You can’t fulfill your purpose if you don’t know how to communicate with God and allow His Word to transform your life.

Without a commitment to live the Word daily, you can’t commit to Phase III of God’s will. You will not have the focus to take time for God to learn the Word, to pray and receive guidance by the Holy Spirit.  And you won’t be able to believe that through you God can accomplish anything no matter what your experience or lace of experience.  He can work miracles through you.

“IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU KNOW OR DON’T KNOW!  God will work in you and help you by the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ to accomplish the work He has set before you. You will have God’s ability to get you through, so it doesn’t matter what your limitations, God will help you accomplish anything He wants you to do and lead you to the information and tools you will need to grow with Him to accomplish His will.”

Whatever it is that God has planned for you, it will bring you great fulfillment. It can be work in the ministry, in a career, a business or any place where God can use the unique qualities He has placed in you. Use the links below for relevant information.

Taking The First Step Into Phase III

To begin your journey with God into Phase III, the first step is to go to God in prayer and seek after His will for your life with a willing heart. Use the prayers of “Dedication and Consecration” to dedicate your life to Him.  Then ask God to reveal His will to you and help you accomplish it.

Wait upon Him in prayer by thanking Him for revealing His will to you. You may not receive guidance from God immediately or hear Him because this is a new process for you. However, continue to remain in the Word and thank God in prayer daily for His will to be revealed to you and in time you will know what to do. Don’t be in a rush. God is perfecting you!

Learn how to say the prayer of Dedication and Consecration.   If you need salvation or to re-dedicate your life, those prayers are found on that page.  Go to:   Prayers
