YOU CAN BE FREE AND AT PEACE FROM A PAST ABORTION OR ABORTIONS

Progressives in America and in other parts of the world accuse the Christian community of being inhuman and evil because we don’t believe in abortions, late-term abortions or infanticide, nor do we wish to support any of these practices.  While the Bible admonishes the world to protect children and to not commit murder, the world is telling women, “it’s your body to do with as you will.”

Christians in love with the Word of God and who center upon God daily understand the personal desire and responsibility to care for the safety and well-being of a fetus just as if it were a child already born.  But what about Christian women who haven’t been taught the Word and believe that having an abortion is a personal choice of convenience? Does God have mercy for these women should they eventually suffer from abortion regret and guilt?

I’m going to address this question before moving forward in this article because the answer is so important to know before any healing can occur.  Anyone can be healed in Christ’s name of anything, but they must first believe that it’s true and that they deserve healing.  Therefore, the answer is yes for any woman who has had an abortion.  God will heal any woman who asks Him in faith to be healed of the pain from a past abortion once they receive salvation.

Jesus Came To Forgive All Sin

Jesus Christ came to save the world from sin.  He would have no reason to become a man on earth if His only purpose was to condemn the world.  He didn’t have to come to earth and die on the cross for that. No!  His purpose was to save the lost which is what each of us is until we receive salvation.  We are all sinners until we become new creatures in Christ.  Believers then become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

1 Corinthians 1:30

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

If we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we are redeemed from spiritual death and live within God’s kingdom for eternity, no matter what we’ve done in the past.  This doesn’t mean that we can choose to go against God and sin all we want and expect forgiveness.  It means that we’re going to work with God to transform our lives to be like Him.

Transforming our lives with the Word of God according to Romans 12:2 changes our hearts and minds to follow Jesus by keeping in step with the Holy Spirit.  In this endeavor or process we prosper in our lives with healing from past sins that we have committed or that have been committed against us by the ability and empowerment we have in Christ.

Jesus’ Compassion For All Who Sin

If you chose at any point in your lifetime to have an abortion or were forced to have one, whether you’re a Christian or a non-believer, and you suffer from guilt, you must realize that you need to heal.  There are some sins that run so deep only God can heal them in Christ Jesus, and for some women this is one of them.  If you feel a relentless pain from having an abortion, know that God desires to heal you and make you whole.   He can also use you and your experience to help others.

If you don’t believe that Jesus has a heart for your pain and guilt, then I’d like you to look at a time when He expressed complete love, forgiveness and healing to a sinner who was about to be stoned by pious religious leaders.  The sinner was a woman caught in prostitution, but she could have been anyone who had committed any sin.

I decided to highlight Jesus’ actions from John 8:1-12 because when I was a child I asked God to show me an important verse in the Bible to follow for my life.  He gave me more than I had requested in this series of 12 verses!  Collectively they teach how much Jesus loves the people in the world, including those who get stuck in the wisdom of worldly thoughts which work with Satan to “kill, steal and destroy ourselves or others.”

Those verses helped me to understand that all people can be renewed in Christ.  As a child, I had heard many adults say that people can’t change, but those verses taught me that anyone can change by the Holy Spirit and receive eternal life in Christ.  God will eliminate the pain of guilt and self-condemnation from any sin to remain in His grace and forgiveness.

John 8:1-12

1. Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

2. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4. They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6. This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

If you choose to follow Jesus, you can receive healing from abortion regret because He will keep you in the light of God’s love and forgiveness so that you can leave your sins in the past.  It may come to your mind, but it won’t haunt you and keep you in the sin of abortion, but the joy of living in God’s kingdom.

Are Unborn Babies A Person According To Scripture?

While there are no specific verses about abortion, the Bible says that, babies in the womb are a person.  This is important to know for those women who aren’t sure about abortion, but desire to follow the Word.  It’s also important for Christians and even non-believers who have aborted babies to know that aborting their babies is a sin before God.  It’s not possible to ask forgiveness and repent for anything if we don’t know we did anything wrong.  To receive forgiveness, we need the assurance that we did indeed sin.

Psalm 139:13-16

13. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

14. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Here is another verse from Jeremiah that shows God sees the unborn as a person.  God says that He knows the unborn and He even has plans for their life.  This means that according to God, abortion is seen as murder to God.

Jeremiah 1:5

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Where Do Aborted Babies Go?

Part of healing includes the knowledge from scripture about what happens to babies and children who die. All babies, whether they die or are killed, go to heaven.  They are innocent and never had a chance to choose Jesus Christ as their savior.  What King David said about his baby who was conceived in adultery with Bathsheba and that had died, makes clear where babies and children go after death. David’s baby was innocent of his parent’s sins. After he and Bathsheba’s baby died he seemed to know with certainty where the baby would go because of what he said in 2 Samuel 12:23.

2 Samuel 12:23
“But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.”

David was heartbroken, but he expected to see his baby again.  His baby could not go to Him but David’s throne is to be established forever in the Kingdom of Heaven and we can believe that his faith extended to the truth that he would see his baby again in heaven, when he said, “I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”

If you’ve had one or more abortions, you can believe that your baby or babies are in the kingdom of God.  David seemed assured that he would see his baby again, and you can take his lead by faith.

God forgives our sins when we ask Him to in Jesus’ name. You can and should believe this to help your heart heal so that you can be a whole person in Christ ready to live the purpose God has given you alone.  It’s as special as you are because God has ordained it to be so.

John 15:16

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
