7 Steps To Unleash The Power of God’s Kingdom Within You

Based On The Letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus in Ephesians 6:10-18.

The Bible is a treasure trove of wisdom and guidance for Christians, providing valuable insights into how to navigate the challenges and tribulations of life. Among its many teachings is the famous passage found in Ephesians 6:10-17, which speaks of the armor of God. This powerful metaphor serves as a reminder to believers of the importance of being prepared for spiritual warfare.

The armor of God is made up of six distinct parts, each designed to help Christians stand strong against the forces of evil. The belt of truth symbolizes the importance of honesty and integrity in one’s life, while the breastplate of righteousness reminds us to keep our hearts pure and our actions righteous.

The shoes of the gospel of peace are a reminder to spread the message of peace to others, while the shield of faith helps protect us from the enemy’s attacks.

The helmet of salvation safeguards the believer’s mind from ungodly thoughts, and the sword of the Spirit is a powerful weapon of scripture that can be used to defeat the enemy’s deceptions. By donning this spiritual armor on a daily basis, Christians can remain steadfast and unwavering in their faith, even amidst the most trying of circumstances.

Through this powerful metaphor, Christians are encouraged to remain vigilant, strong, and faithful, always leaning on God’s enduring strength and steadfast love. In doing so, believers can live victoriously in Christ and resist the devil’s attempts to undermine their faith and trust in God. Living in the power of God and taking on the full armor of God is one of the most important things a believer can do to strengthen their faith and live a life filled with purpose and meaning.

In Ephesians 6:10-17, the Apostle Paul outlines seven steps we can take to fully equip ourselves for the spiritual battles we face each day.  Let’s go deeper into the armor of God for better action taking.

Step 1: Put on the Belt of Truth

The first step is to put on the belt of truth. This represents the importance of living a life rooted in truth and honesty. When we are truthful with ourselves and others, we are better equipped to make wise decisions and discern between what is right and wrong. We must be vigilant in guarding our minds and hearts against false beliefs and negative influences.

  • Practical tip: Make a habit of regularly examining your thoughts and beliefs to ensure they align with God’s truth. When faced with a decision or situation, ask yourself what truth God’s Word has to say about it.

Step 2: Put on the Breastplate of Righteousness

The second step is to put on the breastplate of righteousness. This represents the importance of living a life of integrity and righteousness. When we live according to God’s standards, we are protected from the attacks of the enemy. We must strive to live a life that is pleasing to God and resist the temptation to compromise our beliefs for worldly pleasures.

  • Practical tip: Choose to do the right thing even when it’s difficult or unpopular. Surround yourself with people who share your commitment to righteousness and accountability.

Step 3: Put on the Shoes of Peace

The third step is to put on the shoes of peace. This represents the importance of being a peacemaker and promoting unity among believers. When we have peace in our hearts, we are better equipped to navigate difficult relationships and challenging situations. We must be intentional about seeking peace and reconciliation with others.

  • Practical tip: When facing conflict, choose to respond in a way that promotes peace and unity. Pray for wisdom and discernment in how to approach difficult relationships or situations.

Step 4: Take Up the Shield of Faith

The fourth step is to take up the shield of faith. This represents the importance of having unwavering faith and trust in God’s promises. When we trust in God’s faithfulness, we are protected from the lies and attacks of the enemy. We must actively cultivate and strengthen our faith through prayer, worship, and reading God’s Word.

  • Practical tip: Keep a journal of times when God has been faithful to you. Refer back to these reminders of God’s faithfulness when struggling with doubt or fear.

Step 5: Take Up the Helmet of Salvation

The fifth step is to take up the helmet of salvation. This represents the importance of knowing and believing that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. When we have assurance of our salvation, we are protected from the enemy’s attacks on our identity and worth. We must regularly remind ourselves of the truth of the gospel and our salvation in Christ.

  • Practical tip: Memorize Scripture that speaks to your identity and worth in Christ. Repeat these truths to yourself when you feel attacked or discouraged.

Step 6: Take Up the Sword of the Spirit

The Sixth step is to take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. This represents the importance of saturating ourselves in God’s Word and relying on it to guide us in all situations. When we know and believe God’s Word, we are equipped to fight against the lies and attacks of the enemy. We must prioritize reading and studying Scripture and allowing it to transform our minds and hearts.

  • Practical tip: Set aside time each day to read and study Scripture. Choose a book or topic to study in depth and apply it to your life.

Step 7: Be Strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:18)

The final step in living in the power of God is to be strong in the Lord. This means recognizing that our own strength and abilities are limited, but God’s strength is limitless. We must rely on Him and trust in His power to guide us through every situation. We can do this through continued prayer.  Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

This verse reminds us that prayer is a powerful weapon that can bring down the strongholds of the enemy. Living in the world with the Armor of God means making prayer a priority in our lives. It means seeking God’s guidance and wisdom in all that we do, and interceding on behalf of others who may need our prayers. Loving God means loving others and caring about their well-being.

So, make prayer a daily habit and rely on God’s strength and wisdom to see you through both the good times and the bad. If you don’t know how to pray or what form of prayer to use for your needs, my book, “Reaching Heaven, a Miraculous Journey Into Answered Prayer,” Part 3 of the By God’s Design Series, covers all types of prayer, how to pray them and how to guarantee that all of your prayers get answered. It also teaches how to pray in the Spirit of God and how to work with the Holy Spirit.

  • Practical tip: Start each day with prayer and ask God to give you strength and guidance for the day ahead. Take time to read and meditate on Scripture that reminds you of God’s power and faithfulness. This can help to shift your focus from your own weaknesses to God’s strength.

Conclusion

Living in the power of God and taking on the full armor of God requires intentional effort and commitment. By taking these seven steps, we can equip ourselves to face each day with confidence and faith in God’s power and protection. Remember to rely on God’s strength, live in truth and righteousness, seek peace and unity, strengthen your faith, know your salvation, and immerse yourself in God’s Word. May we all daily strive to live in the power of God by taking on the full armor of God.
