Maintain Your Faith Walk With God

If you’re ill and you haven’t kept up with the Word or you haven’t been a Christian for long and you’re looking to God for healing, here’s a short plan that you can follow to organize your life around God. This is a way that will help you make time for Him at a time when you need it the most. It will serve as the means of building your foundation of Jesus Christ for the rest of your life, not just while you’re sick, but once you are healed to help you maintain your faith walk.

The Bible is our instruction book for life, but here we’ll call it our “Maintenance Plan.” When we buy an appliance we also get an instruction book that explains how to maintain the product to keep it working at its highest performance level.

Included is other information for troubleshooting or calling the dealer or a maintenance person when we can’t fix it on our own. This is how we’re going to look at the Bible throughout this lesson to help make it more clear to you instead of creating an impression that the Bible is a large book of mysterious or redundant information.

The Faith Walk For Living In Christ

Once you’re saved, you become a part of the Body Of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27). This means that you take a special place within this Body made up of believers. Christ is the head of this spiritual Body and each Christian takes their place and lives it by living the Word and their ordained purpose. There is no part greater than another, however, Christ is the One Who is the foundation of the Body. So He is our Foundation. This is why we must follow the Word to follow Jesus correctly.

As we take our place in the Body and learn of Christ, we establish a relationship with Him that continues to grow as we learn more of Him and act upon what we have learned. Follow this plan and it will produce the ingredients needed to receive a steady supply of faith, hope, joy, peace and prosperity that you can never receive from the world.

John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Maintain Your Faith Walk With God’s Daily Plan

1. Find and join a local, Spirit-filled, Word church.

Acts 2:1-4, “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Pray for God to lead you to such a church. I was brought up in a church that believed that scriptural healing was no longer a part of the doctrine of Jesus Christ. They changed the Bible to suit their own doctrine, which was leading us away from God and not toward Him. When I needed healing I had to leave and find another church. I prayed for God to lead me to a spirit-filled church and He did. While driving I was led to turn off of a main street and turn into a church I had never noticed before. They welcomed me and taught me how to understand the Bible. My life changed from that moment.

The church you find doesn’t have to be glorious in the external sense. It does not have to have a large number of members, but it should be a place where, within your heart, you sense God would have you attend or be a member. You could even be meeting with believers in a cluster or someone’s home. This is a place where its members have a heart and longing for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ and display fervency of spirit in prayer and the study of the Word of God. I can tell you from experience that you need this.

While you will never find a church with perfect people, you will find a church of people who have taken their place in the Body by serving God and learning the Word. This means that everyone will be at a different level of Christian maturity. Don’t look at the failings of those around you, look at what you need to receive from God to maintain your faith walk with God and what you need to contribute.

James 4:4, “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

Consider, as an example, a cluster of charcoals. When lit and packed closely, they burn with fervent heat. If you were to separate one from the rest, all alone, its fire would soon diminish and die. The fire of the believer is the same.  We must keep it burning with the fellowship of other Christians.

Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Consider also a flock of sheep grazing. The wolf (devil) coyly observes from the hillside, waiting to see which one will separate itself from the rest of the flock and make his job easy. If none do through self-will and self-assurance, he is likely to attempt to divide and separate the sheep (scatter them) so as to capture one of them! Remember well the admonition of the Apostle Paul not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together. Hebrews 10:25, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
