To Enter Your Rest

Rest In Christ

Why You Can Give Your Burdens To Jesus

Everyone has burdens, but depending upon what you do with them they can make or break you! You can overcome them in Christ, because He says He will take them for you.  Or, you can live with them in fear and anxiety. If you're a Christian, you have a choice!  Maybe no one that you know told you this, so if you're a Christian, it's time you get to know Jesus because He has good news for you.

You Have Been Empowered To Get rid Of Your Burdens!

Burdens are the problems of life we carry that we haven’t been able to solve on our own.  Burdens come in all shapes and sizes, but if we take control over them by giving them to Jesus, God will help us find a way to overcome them.

Is Jesus Christ The Lord Of Your Life?

All Christians must make Jesus Christ the Lord of their lives.  This is what we must confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts when we receive salvation.  So it stands to reason that we need to follow Him, and we do that by obeying and following the instructions He gave us for living. Christians should be overjoyed and jumping in the air with what Jesus' sacrifice has allowed us to do, but instead, His work on the cross and what it's brought His believers goes unnoticed by many.

To me, as a lover of ice cream, it's like complaining that I don't have any ice cream to enjoy even though all I have to do is go to the store and purchase my favorite flavor.  I'd be so foolish to waste my time complaining when all I need to do is take action!  Yet, Jesus already paid the price of our peace, joy and answered prayer so that we can have abundant life, but many Christians are living miserable lives when all they need to do is take freely what Jesus has given all believer; REST!

Sadly, many Christians are begging and pleading with God to help them.  They're complaining about their troubles and wondering why God is not helping them.  Some even take desperate measures that are like jumping off a cliff with their eyes closed and hoping that they'll land on their feet.  But they don't! They can't get any more help than what God has already given them: JESUS!

We have everything we need in Jesus because of His sacrifice on the cross.  If you don't take what He's already done for you when He redeemed mankind from spiritual death, sickness, disease and all the problems of life, then all you can do is sit and complain.  But if you want to start living the great life, then all you need to do is follow Jesus, so let's take that first step with Him right now!

To Have The Peace Of Jesus Christ Is To Rest In Christ

Let's not waste another minute!  Let's get right into our rest because you and I and all Christians are empowered to get rid of our burdens --and, the sooner the better!

Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28-30 to rest in Him. Jesus wants us to experience rest not just for a time, but every day and night.  Jesus desires to give us peace!

Matthew 11:28-30,  "28. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

And, it's important to know that there is a thief, Satan, who wants to take away the peace we've been given by Jesus Christ.  He desires to kill and destroy the empowerment we have to rest in Christ and be liberated from sin and the problems caused by sin in the world.

John 10:10 (ESV) 10. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

All Christians need to be free of whatever takes away their peace.  It’s a part of living our salvation. Before I pray for a need or a problem, I give my burdens to Jesus first.  Then I ask God for what I need by the prayer of faith.

Praying without burdens empowers the Christian to override the temptations of Satan meant to steal, kill and destroy our peace, joy and ability to live the abundant life we've been given by Jesus Christ. We need to arm ourselves with God's Word and take it by faith that if Jesus said it, we can believe it! This belief brings God's Word into our hearts and the life of that Word fills every part of our being with empowerment to overcome temptations which completes our faith.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV) 11. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Isaiah talks about this empowerment that is created when we believe God's Word by faith. God's Word accomplishes what it was sent to do.  In other words, all of God's promises have life. When we speak those promises and believe them by faith they will prosper us.  If we don't believe them, even though they are alive within us, they will die out or remain dormant without faith. They cannot produce the results they were sent by God to give us in Christ.

Isn't that powerful?  Do you believe it?  If you don't, then you don't believe God's Word. If this lesson is difficult for you to believe or grasp for your situation, then let's look deeper into the verses I've just given you to read.

Rest In Christ For Answered Prayer

Giving your burdens to Jesus before prayer is scriptural because we're told to give our burdens to Jesus and live the abundant life. We're to do this so that the thief, Satan, won't steal, kill or destroy us.  One of the best ways he attacks Christians, and everyone is through the cares of this world with worry, fear, panic, stress and anxiety.  We need to know the enemy and how he works so that we can identify him and defeat him rather than fear him.

John 10:10 (ESV) 10. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

We need to be watchful and vigilant.  1 Peter 5:8 compares Satan to a roaring lion.  This means a lion with it's mouth open ready to devour its prey.  We're able to hear him coming or when he's in our presence.  And you know what? We can easily hear him in our thought life, in our words and in our actions.

If you want to know where the enemy is at, listen to yourself talk.  If you're speaking and reacting to fear, anxiety and anger, then you're able to stop the enemy from attacking you by replacing your words, emotions and actions.  Look to Jesus immediately.

Use the authority you have in Jesus' Name to overcome negativity by giving your burdens to Jesus and then praying for the result you need. Jesus has provided abundant living to all who decide to accept it by redeeming mankind from the enemy.  Jesus is our mediator, so we can overcome whatever comes against us through Him.  We can cast our burdens upon the Lord and HE WILL SUSTAIN US.  HE WILL NEVER ALLOW THE RIGHTEOUS TO BE SHAKEN!

Psalm 55:22 (NASB) 22. Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

If you're asking who the righteous is, it's YOU!  Before God, you are the righteous because he sees you through Jesus Christ. Once you give your burdens to Jesus, you can be assured that when you pray to God, He's going to take care of you and keep you until your faith brings into physical being what it is suppose to accomplish.

He's going to keep you safe if you're in danger; keep you alive and recuperating if you've prayed to overcome sickness or disease or He's going to turn your circumstances and problems into a successful situation.  You are the righteousness of God!

Romans 10:10:10-13 (ASV) 10. for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame. 12. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him: 13. for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Jesus Makes Us Worthy To Rest In Him!

If you begin to falter about resting in Christ and trusting God to keep you while He answers your prayers, remember the verses I've given you today.  Ask yourself who you want to believe; Jesus Christ or the enemy?  Psalm 55:22 says that we can cast our burdens upon the Lord and He will keep us going in peace while we wait upon God to help us.  Keep that verse captured within your heart.

Jesus is our mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). Whatever we ask of God or whatever we do for Him, we do it through Jesus.  This means that we can lean upon Jesus freely and expect answered prayer because we don’t have to worry about being good enough; Jesus makes us worthy to rest in Him and to have whatever the Word says belongs to us!

We can cast whatever burden we have on the Lord through Jesus Christ. This includes sin, sickness, disease, poverty, soundness of mind, success and whatever else God promises us in His Word, the Bible.  And we’re going to be protected while we do it so we don’t have to be anxious, nervous or afraid!  When you begin to feel these negative emotions, remember 1 Peter 5:7.

1 Peter 5:7 (NASB) 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

In Matthew 6:34 Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow or the future. This is because we only have the moment to live. Moment by moment we need to stay in step with Jesus by remaining yoked with Him so that we can be at peace without anxiety.

Keep The Peace and Go Be The Light!

When you think about peace, don't think about it in terms of having peace based upon your circumstances.  Don't see it as something you must have on your own.  Think about it in terms of what Christ has done for you and what is available to you by giving your burdens to Him.

Always rest in Jesus and not in yourself.  When you have problems, give them to Jesus and you'll always have peace!  This is how you seek after God's Kingdom as his righteousness.  God will see to your every need so that you never have to worry about tomorrow! Instead you can be at peace and share the light of Jesus Christ with the world.

Matthew 6:33-34, 33 "But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
