REVIEW BY MARGARET LUKASIK
I believe in the healing power of God’s Word, but because of a lack of knowledge concerning this subject and scripture in general, many Christians aren’t assured of this truth, and others, like myself, aren’t always equipped to share it with others. However, after much searching, I’m exceedingly thankful to have found the information I need in the book, Free To Be Like Jesus by Tommy Hays.
For many years, I’ve listened to well-known pastors and Christian leaders from the past and the present who have been involved in healing ministries and I’ve spent much time studying and practicing their materials. While I’ve learned much information, I’ve met with many challenges that have kept me from reaching people with deep rooted problems. Even though I wasn’t called into ministry, I do believe that all Christians are responsible to minister to one another, to their communities and wherever God calls. This is why I’ve been searching for information that will help me to better minister healing from scripture to all types of people with all types of problems.
Tommy Hays shares his heart and his ministry to educate his readers through the most comprehensive book of inner healing I’ve read to date. It’s based upon scripture and it centers upon Christ rather than self to attain what only Jesus can accomplish within the spirit, mind and body. With great clarity he guides the reader into a place of personal inner healing and wholeness with empowerment for ministry to represent Christ to the world. Free To Be Like Jesus has given me the confidence to know how I can better help others realize the root of their problems or pain through Christ Jesus by receiving the specific spiritual or inner cure with the outward manifestation of healing.
What makes Tommy’s book stand out is his method of writing. He made me feel as if he’s right there with me, offering in-depth teaching and principles from the Bible that reflect his prayer ministry of healing and deliverance. Because of his ministry experience and the testimonies of others that he provides, I was excited to learn from him. Not once did his teachings disappoint! He shares relevant scripture with instruction for applying it, he teaches how to successfully pray over specific problems which can keep a person bound for years or a lifetime, and he shows how to trust God by learning how to wait upon Him in faith to insure answered prayer.
He also clarifies the scriptural differences between the human spirit, soul and body with simple yet brilliant illustrations throughout the book which reflect his teaching for more clarity. I felt this information vital for healing and deliverance because it’s important to understand the process of Biblical transformation discussed in Romans 12:2 which tells believers to transform their minds with the Word of God. Not knowing that man is a spirit who has a soul and who lives in a body can make this process difficult to achieve.
Free To Be Like Jesus has enabled me to become better equipped to minister healing and deliverance and I believe it will do the same for all believers who desire a deeper relationship with God and who are passionate about becoming empowered to do the works of Jesus Christ. I feel this to be a book of great Christian influence for ministry and personal use and I highly recommend it for all Christians!
