The
Sin Of Forgiveness Review
By Margaret Lukasik
|
When Edward F. Mrkvicka, Jr. writes a book he doesn't generalize
with broad themes that may be confusing, instead he chooses specific
Biblical topics relevant to living a successful Christian life "today"
rather than someday in the far future. His
information
is always thorough
and thought provoking, with a message that will either convict the
heart for change or give way for an examination of one's deepest beliefs.
Edward's new book challenges the reader's heart and mind from the very
beginning with his provocative title, "The Sin Of
Forgiveness." I have to admit I was curious about it, but I
wasn't kept guessing for long. I learned quickly the intent
of this Christian life book which centers upon the difference
between secular and Christian forgiveness. For those who know little
about the subject, Edward's book is
a source of study that can lead to more Biblical understanding about how
to forgive and why we need to adhere to God's Word over worldly wisdom.
|
As Christians we have a responsibility to live according
to scripture rather than be dictated by the ways of the
world. Edward's commentary on forgiveness teaches that
scripturally it must be taken beyond a quick apology or the
asking of forgiveness without repentance. Instead he gives a Biblical formula for forgiving one another in a way that will bring healing for the
person who has suffered hurt and the one causing the suffering or pain.
He explains the areas in life where Christians should not forgive in
order to remain untouched by more harm and the sins of the unrepentant.
Many souls have been harmed in ways that can last a lifetime by
extending forgiveness where it should not have been given, while others
continue to live their lives without thought of the harm they commit
because of ignorance concerning this Biblical law. If a person
continues to bring harm to others without an inner conviction for
change or the knowledge of repentance, Edward teaches
that forgiveness will become a detriment rather than a
blessing.
Christians should always be ready to look beyond what
they already know concerning the Bible in order to insure living their
salvation to the fullest in Christ Jesus--even if it means
replacing wrong thinking and behaviors that we were taught acceptable in the world with those that are scripturally
correct. Edward invites his readers to check His
information with the Word in order to insure it's validity. His book makes that opportunity easy with many
pages of relevant scripture to help them understand forgiveness God's way.
