How To Successfully Become Godly In Life

How To Become Godly

The pursuit to become Godly is the theme of this article. So let’s go right to 1 Timothy 6:6 to learn how to become more Godly:

1 Timothy 6:6 “Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”

God’s Contentment Over Man’s Contentment

How many people today are really content–thankful with their lives and how things are going for them? Well, for those who are not, they can be because Timothy tells us that to be Godly is to be content! How blessed we are that Godliness coupled with contentment is great gain. Not just gain, but GREAT gain!

Over and over in scripture, God highlights the importance and reward of godliness. For instance, it says in Psalm 4:3, That the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly. 2 Peter says the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations. Those are great rewards!

But there’s more. Look at 1 Timothy 4:7-8,

But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

To Become Godly Is Of Earthly and Spiritual Gain

It could not be more clear! There is profit in godliness, and that profit is not only in this life, but in the life that is to come. Godliness is going to pay off in both this life and into eternity!

So the pursuit to become Godly should be a priority for every Christian! Even if people want to kick you every time you do something that is right, you need to stay with it.  Don’t put what people think before what God desires for His people.

Determine today to make godliness an everyday pursuit. If you do, you will reap the rewards of godliness, great gain and profit, not just in this life, but for eternity.  And keep in mind that Godliness is putting God before our own selfish desires.  We’re to honor and obey what God tells us to do in the Bible.  It should always be God’s will above our own or someone else’s.  This is how to live a Godly lifestyle.

While the Bible can be daunting for those just beginning to read it’s pages, it can become easier to live it as you learn it.  This is how you grow in Christ daily and how you make Him the Lord of your life as well  as your savior.  This will give you faith and trust in God to take care of your every need. Thus, great contentment.
