Take A Picture Of Good Health
If you took a picture of good health, would it look like you? If you’re overweight, you may think I’m talking about the need to look thin, but thin doesn’t always mean healthy. Overweight people and even thin people believe that a certain weight is equal to good health, but that’s only when we weigh around or at our Perfect Individual Weight (PIW) by living a healthy lifestyle.
Good Health Biblically Belongs To You
Aside from what the experts say about good health, I’m going to show you what God has to say about it to eliminate the idea that being thin denotes good health. Rather, it’s a more dynamic and well-rounded effort beyond the practice of dieting which can cause bad or poor health.
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
John puts good health above all things and equates it with taking care of the soul. Just as we’re responsible to have a healthy soul, we’re also responsible to have good health. Without good health, it becomes difficult to make our souls and spirits prosper.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow (the body), and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the hearts.
For Good Health, Know That Man Is A Three Part Being
Hebrews 4:12 makes clear that God created man as a three part being. Therefore, man is a spirit who lives in a body and who has a soul. With our spirits, we contact the spiritual realm (communicate with God), with our souls we contact the intellectual (our minds) and emotional realms (our feelings/personalities/character), and with our bodies we contact the physical realm (our senses/desires/needs).
Knowing how God created man helps us to better understand how to specifically care for our bodies, minds and souls. And, by keeping our minds and souls healthy, we’re also creating good physical health by keeping the body under control with cleanliness, scriptural morality and healthy eating.
Living A Godly Lifestyle Includes Good Health
Many Christians are sick for a variety of reasons. There are also people claim to be sick when they’re not, others believe they’ve always had poor health while others with good health fear that they may become sick or diseased somehow.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 19. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, therefore, we need to be healthy vessels from the inside out to maintain a healthy lifestyle, to grow in Christ and to serve God.
1 Peter 2:24 “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Jesus died so that we can be empowered in Him to overcome sin, sickness, disease, being overweight, feeling afraid, and whatever else comes against us. We’re empowered to live in good health, but we’re also empowered to be rid of the problems that cause bad health, such as bad eating, being overweight or addicted to unhealthy substances.
