The Cross Of Jesus Christ
Think About Jesus’ Love For Mankind

Some Christians think about the Cross Of Jesus with sadness for what Christ endured to be separated from The Father. We think about the horrendous pain He suffered for hours while He was nailed to the cross. There was also the humiliation of hanging on a cross as if He were no more than a common criminal.

Jesus did this not for us to concentrate on His pain, but to see His suffering as a sacrifice because of His love for the Father and for all mankind!  This God-centered love was for us to have redemption of sin so that we would never have to suffer as He did.  And it provided us with a spiritual inheritance that provides God’s greatest blessings.

Years ago in a Sunday School class for adults we were read a realistic account of everything Jesus suffered physically while He hung on the cross. We were all depressed with many of us crying by the end of the class. No more was said. We were just left in sadness as if Jesus is still suffering.

Much later, after I had learned about where Jesus is now and why exactly He suffered for us I realized that Jesus doesn’t want us to reflect upon His suffering. For one thing, He’s not suffering any more. He’s sitting in victory at the right hand of the Father. Instead of wanting us to feel sorry for Him, He wants us to sit with Him where He is right now on top of all our circumstances!

Jesus wants us to go up with Him where He is now. He doesn’t want us to remain at the cross, watching Him suffer over and over again. We should be living the victorious cross of Jesus everyday with Him where He sits, not dying with Him in sorrow where He was on earth. We can substitute the work He already did for us, but we don’t relive it every day. Otherwise we make His great and magnificent sacrifice of little consequence. Instead we need to live His resurrection!

Ephesians 2:5-6 tells us that we are together with Christ, saved by grace and that we have been raised up together with Christ, sitting together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

The Cross Of Jesus At Work In Our Lives Daily

Are you keeping Jesus on the cross in your life or are you taking the cross of Jesus to live in victory? We need to keep the cross of Jesus at work in our lives daily. He has given us the Key To The Cross to accomplish all things. You can take that key and use it to unlock the Kingdom of God for all your blessings or you can live without it in defeat.

Matthew 10:38 (KJV) “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”

We have to understand that there is only one way to follow Christ and that is to take up His cross. We can only receive right standing with God by denying ourselves and our works to be worthy for God and accept that we are only capable of right standing through Jesus and His work on the cross.

We are to deny ourselves by taking His cross as our own and follow Him with all our might. Jesus doesn’t mean that we should take our own cross, but take His cross as ours rather than living by our own works. We live the scripture to obey God’s Word, but it’s only through Jesus that we are good enough for God to bless us. I’m repeating this because if you don’t keep hearing it, you’ll forget and slip into looking at what you do to receive your blessings from God.

It would be contradictory and confusing if Jesus told us to deny ourselves and then change His story and tell us to take up our own cross. What cross do we have to bear other than life’s burdens? However, Jesus already told us that He’ll take our burdens and give us rest in Matthew 11:29. As we learn to rest in Christ we can accomplish anything and receive our Kingdom blessings because of the cross of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 16:24 (KJV) “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”

We see in Matthew 16:24 how to take up the cross of Jesus to receive from God; we are to deny ourselves and take up His cross. When we do, VICTORY is ours daily! So always be thankful to Jesus for His sacrifice and suffering on the cross, but don’t live your life through His crucifixion. Instead, live it through the triumph of His resurrection. Healing, safety and protection, soundness of mind, financial increase, success and so much more are all a part of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Get familiar with the resurrection by meditating upon what Christ did for us and you’ll begin to see who you are and what you have. Then you’ll begin to live the victory that Christ achieved for us without even thinking about it.

I hope this lesson has made a lasting impression upon your heart for positive change and victory.
